Silver Cross Wayfarer

This is a beautiful classically styled stroller made by Silver Cross.  Silver Cross is a well known brand of strollers in England.  This stroller is built to last, I’ll hand it down to my grandchildren!  This particular model was marketed under the name Knightbridge Solo in the USA, and Wayfarer or Excel in the UK.  I purchased this stroller new in March of 2002.

It has a reversible seat that is different from most models- it flips over! The seat is infinitely position able, has a five point harness, and a weather boot. It also sports a traditional carriage hood, a newborn pillow (to make the seat flatter for an infant) and a wire mesh basket.  This stroller works remarkably well with a Kiddy Board when an extra ride is needed. It has a chrome frame, swivel wheels, and a bar brake.  It is an amazing stroller!

The really special part about a Silver Cross is that they were just purchased by an American Company.  That often means moving factories and manufacturing to Asia, and often effects the quality of the end product! Check out Silver Cross for the models currently available in the USA.

This stroller is such a fun buggy that I have not been able to part with it. I think eventually this will showcase some collector dolls. It is so unique, and beautiful that this would be a joy to have in our home in this capacity.

I found a second one on Ebay (originally purchased in England)and purchased it to use for the kids in the meantime. It is pictured below, it has a beautiful blue, red, and green plaid seat and bassinet. We enjoyed using this over the summer at a variety of places including Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, and Washington DC.

My then 4 year old asleep in the footmuff in the bassinet! Can't believed she fit herself in, she is extremely tall. Notice the red tulip on navy background fabric. Above you'll see the Wayfarer dressed in Classic Navy colourway- a deep navy with white diamonds and accent fabric of white and navy plaids. Both compliment the Chrome chassis wonderfully!
